Parade guidelines & sign-up →John Bicknell bought 240 acres of cleared forest in 1860 at $13 an acre. A general store, a post office and the first coal shaft followed, and by 1920 nearly 8,000 people called Bicknell home. The mines are quiet now, but the town they built is still here.
